“The Gods we can Touch” is a spiritual evolution of Aurora’s romantic, ethereal sound. Each song was inspired by a God from the Greek pantheon or Christian motifs. For example, "The Forbidden Fruits of Eden" references the forbidden fruit in Genesis, and "Artemis" is named after the Greek Goddess of the hunt.

The album calls for embracing base human nature and experiences without shame, from the most beautiful to the ugliest. Only by becoming in touch with their base natures can humans be free.

I designed the album cover after the God Janus, the two-headed God of duality. The key theme, embracing the opposing sides of humanity, is arguably a call for embracing duality. Growth and destruction, love and hate, tranquillity and mania.

 

I also frequently used the symbol of the snake and the apple. While the snake is associated with the Serpent of Eden, in Greek mythology it is also associated with healing and immortality and is among the oldest symbols in art. And finally, the use of green, which is not only the colour of nature, but in Islam, paradise. I also used a larval textural motif as volcanoes are forces of destruction, but it is on their fertile soil that vegetation grows.
